This was a bit long for a pretty simple mechanic, but I hope I was able to explain my design reasoning behind it. Shows up on your player profile for others to see 5% bonus on money and fusion matter for their favor A "token of friendship", or a unique nontradeable acessory related to that character (if you change best friends, it disappears from your inventory similar to how guide items disappear when you change guide) You can only have one character to be your best friend, but you can change it at any time. You can choose any character you've maxed out your friendship with to be your best friend. But what if you're a superfan of one character? Well, there's a reward for that too. This makes it worth your time to be friends with many characters. For example, a 5 Star Rank with Numbuh 2 will get you bonuses for the other KND operatives' favors. Additionally, earn 5% more fusion matter and money in the favors for that character's "close associates".

At 5 stars, you have officially become friends, and they're always excited to see you, even if some characters have, well, unique ways of showing it. At 3-4 stars, they become more friendly towards you, and may even call you by your name. The text at 1-2 stars shows a formal, buisness-like relationship between them and your character, treating you just as a war ally and not much else. More importantly, it changes the dialouge of that NPC. Each star level nets bonus rewards and items for completing their favor. Each time you do a favor for an NPC, your friendship level increases. This is the real reason you want to be doing the favors. These can be repeated, which is important for. Rewards generally scale on how difficult or time consuming the task is.
Check on marked points, often in infected zones Give X Item (Can include Gumballs, certain weapons, armor, or acessories) These unlock at different times for different NPCs, usually after the level a majority of quests pertaining to them take place. Every CN character NPC has their own personal favor you can do as many times as you wish in return for rewards. Time for the mechanics.Īn alternate way of earning money and fusion matter that isn't missions or plain grinding. (Thank you Universe team for fixing his model lol) I think an ideal new mechanic for FF would focus on the characters themselves, more specificly, interaction between the characters and the player. Some characters absolutely kill it with their redesigns, while some are Eddy. Fusionfall's unique art style makes it exciting to see your favorites from long-gone shows again. The characters present are voice acted, almost all of them having their original VAs reprise their roles.
(For those unaware, that's any original CN show that came out before Adventure Time, although some early renaissance shows got featured near the end of the game's life) Nearly every show is represented in some way, through NPCs, locations, or weapons. The game is a must play if you're a fan of any pre-renaissance CN show. That being said, Fusionfall has one big plus to it, the very reason people play the game to begin with, and that of course the Cartoon Network name and characters being attatched to it. For reference, I got about halfway through the game when Retro was still up, so there might be some counterevidence to my thoughts that I wasn't able to see, but from I what I played I doubt it. Progress has that slow MMO drag to get you to pay for another month's subscription. Only a few of the weapon types are actually usable. The only real difference between the various enemy types is if they have "herd mentality" or not. In all honesty, Fusionfall vanilla objectively is not a very good game. This was the one Legacy feature I felt really took advantage of FF's biggest stregnth. You could ask them how they were, and they'd talk to you in a text box, and it would even change as the game progressed. One of the features that actually got me very interested was actually the addition of some amount of interaction with the NPCs. Years were spent developing these mechanics that would all of made Fusionfall insurmountably better game, and it was all going to waste because of the DMCA. I was watching Funkse's Legacy video, and it was all very tragic.
